My First Blog

Last night as I dropped my iPhone, the sheer panic that went through my mind made me realise that my life revolves around apps and gadgets. Being 19, I grew up with the progression of technology meaning when i first heard the dial up tone and held my first Nokia 3310 for my confirmation I was already infected with the communication bug. Today Facebook, Twitter and the like are a huge part of not only my day but my life, I can look at pictures, moments of my life, stored and tagged on Facebook or I can look into the past with great ease on bebo. As my phone fell its wasn't the fear of it breaking that scared me. It was the fear of not having the social networking world at my finger tips.
It made me realise that these days the importance of social networking spans from not just posting last nights photos on your friends wall, but to some of the best examples of public relations that are on show to us today. For example, Heineken recently used facebook to great affect with their Heiniken live events campaign. By allowing people to sign up for free tickets to an event, they gained access to the news feeds of thousands within the area they aimed. They immediately gained a hype around the event which turned out to be one of the biggest events they've ran to date. In the coming weeks I will be exploring this concept in more dept and enlighten you, my readers on in and outs on how you can get the most from your social networks.
Thats all from me folks, until next time.
